In February 2022 we purchased a lovely little 30-year-old 1992, UK-market MX5 Mk1 1.6-litre that was already in decent condition, but set about giving you the chance to decide what modifications we should add to the car, before having the chance to win it in our free prize-draw!
And win it is just what Darren Kerrigan from York did!
Darren, already a Mk2 owner, had followed the progress of our project closely after aspiring to own his very own Mk1, and follow in the footsteps of his brother and have both a Mk1 and a Mk2 in his garage.
Never thinking he鈥檇 win in a million years, when he saw our winners announcement he thought it was a 鈥榳ind up鈥� and couldn鈥檛 believe his look when we got in touch to tell him the good news!
Darren has only recently got in the MX5 scene as he wanted a car he could maintain himself, without the need for fancy computers and diagnostic machines and has been very proud to teach himself how to give 鈥楯asper鈥� (his Mk2) a full service!
When we dropped off the car, he was eagerly awaiting our arrival and could hear us long before he could see us, and whilst conditions weren鈥檛 exactly perfect to get the top down and hit the open road, Darren and his wife couldn鈥檛 resist a little spin in the rain with the top down and said 鈥淭hanks for taking the time to drop off the car. We took it for a short ride and it is everything I hoped it would be. Thanks again to all at 甜心直播 for such an amazing prize, I feel very privileged to own such a beautiful car!鈥�
